Worcester: Donatien Dernodji Ngatoua, 18, passed away tragically and unexpectedly on May 26, 2026 while on vacation in Aruba.

Donatien was born in Chad, son of Justin and Charlotte Ngatoua from Central African Republic. He was a student at Freedom Christan Academy, a homeschool pod associated with Adams Square Baptist Church in Worcester. He was also a member of Adams Square Baptist Church. Lastly, he was a member of the community at African Community Education, a nonprofit that assists African refugee and immigrant youth and their families.

Besides his parents, he leaves 4 brothers- Allah-digui Neksone, Temadji, Ismael Ngatoua, Wise Ngatoua, 2 sisters- Erene Oneka and Angela Ngatoua, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends.

“His energy, kindness, humor, and ambition leave a lasting impact on all of us at ACE," the organization posted on social media. "He brought joy to all spaces, cared deeply for others, and carried both humility and big dreams for his future.”

Both organizations described Donatien as a dedicated student and track and field athlete who spoke often of attending college to study mechanical engineering.

“Whether on the track, at home, at school, or at ACE, Donatien brought enthusiasm and heart wherever he went,” according to the information posted by African Community Education.

The GoFundMe post described the young man as a “beloved son, brother, student, athlete, friend” who participated in many Worcester organizations and community groups.

“He carried big dreams for his future,”

“Donatien was our son and brother by choice, and we were so proud of every accomplishment he made. Because of his decision to follow Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, we have confidence that we will see him again. Until we are reunited in Heaven, you will always be loved, always be missed, and never be forgotten.”-The Casey Family
