Curtis W. Goodrich, Sr.'s Obituary

Curtis W Goodrich Sr.

Retired Worcester Police Officer Curtis W Goodrich Sr. 86 of Worcester passed away peacefully on (Friday) February 20th in Umass Memorial Medical Center University Hospital. Following a short illness, he was surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Worcester he was the son of the late John W and Eileen P (Johnson) Goodrich. He grew up in the predominantly Finnish neighborhood (10 Newport Street) of Belmont Hill and was a proud native that lived on the hill most of his adult life. Curt attended the old Elizabeth Street School, Commerce Highschool and Quinsigamond Community College. He proudly served his Country in the United States Navy. After his time in the military, he worked for the City of Worcester (Worcester Police Department) as a highly decorated Police Officer for 24 years. He became the very first Worcester officer certified as an emergency medical technician (EMT). Curt was a member of the former impact force (Divison) where he was commended numerous times for police excellence and valor. He is credited with saving at least 7 lives (4 were children). Curt was a true Worcester Police legend. He was a voracious reader, he loved true crime books! Curt also loved listening to 50’s music and was a known disc jockey dj (Aquarius Sound) at the former Bel-mar bar. He was a NE and Red Sox fan and truly enjoyed going to motorcycle swap meets and bike shows with his son Chip. Curt started the question mark motorcycle club in 1970 and also was the co-founder of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club (Massachusetts Chapter II). Curt was a legendary triumph and Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast. Riding motorcycles was his true passion, however above all he loved to spend time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his sons Curtis (Chip) W Goodrich II of Worcester, Kristopher and his wife Deb of Milbury, Daughter Kelley of Worcester and a sister Patricia E Goodrich of Worcester. Several grandchildren and great grandchildren and wife Arlene Malia. He was predeceased by his brother Douglas C Goodrich and four children (Craig, Clifford, Kimberly and Sharyn Holmes).
