Constance J. “Connie” Deenik, 97, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2026 in Knollwood Nursing Center. She leaves behind the Shilale family, lifelong friends who were like family to her, and many other friends she met along life's journey.

Connie was born in Manchester, NH on July 4, 1929, daughter of the late Gerrit and Jennie E. (VanZuuk) Deenik. She lived in Worcester, MA since 1938. She graduated from High School of Commerce in 1947 and from the School of the Worcester Art Museum in 1950. She was employed in the advertising and display departments of W.T. Grant Co. from 1950 until 1976 and the Fair Discount Department Stores from 1976 until retirement in 1994. Connie was first and foremost an accomplished artist. She was also an avid reader who enjoyed crossword puzzles, Jumble games, birdwatching, and gardening. Her curiosity, creativity, and love of learning remained with her throughout her life.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Briarwood Elms and Knollwood Nursing Home for their exceptional care and kindness. They are especially grateful to Dr. Nancy Swayze, whose dedicated support and compassionate care meant so much to Connie over the years.

A private graveside service will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations in Connie’s memory may be made to the Worcester County Food Bank, MSPCA, or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
