Obituary

Worcester - Cheryl J. (Merritt) Conety, 59, died unexpectedly and suddenly at UMass Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Sunday, March 17, 2013. She leaves her devoted husband of 42 years, Michael P. Conety; a daughter, Suzanne (Conety) Masiello; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Conety and Joanna King Conety; and her mother, Beverly J. (Anderson) Merritt - all of Worcester. She leaves her brother and sister-in-law Glenn and Marie Merritt of VA and sister Julie Merritt of Brockton. She also leaves her five beloved grandchildren, Isabella, Gianni, Corinne, Evelynn, and Lacey. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Richard H. Merritt (d. 2004), and brother, Wayne Merritt (d. 2002).

Cheryl was born and raised in Worcester and was a graduate of Burncoat High School. She was a member of Salem Covenant Church and worked in fragrance promotions at Macy's. Cheryl enjoyed vacationing in Florida, Martha's Vineyard, and Cape Cod. She also enjoyed yoga, gardening, crafts, and spending time with her family, especially her 5 young grandchildren, who lovingly refer to her as "Nanny." A natural caregiver, Cheryl put everyone else's needs above her own and handled everything that came her way with grace and confidence. Cheryl was a relentlessly devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother, friend and co-worker. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be deeply missed. A truly beautiful woman both inside and out.
