Obituary

Carolyn J. Clark, 95, passed away on Friday, November14, 2025 in Oakdale Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center.

Carolyn was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Merton P. and Helen M. (Hobart) Clark. She graduated from North High School, the School of Worcester Art Museum in 1953, earned her Master's of Education from Clark University in 1956, and earned an MA from Pratt Institute in NYC. She worked as an art teacher at Greendale and Burncoat Elementary Schools for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Worcester and the Worcester Art Museum, where two of her etchings for the museum's Permanent art collection reside. She also participated in many plays in Phoenix Players at the First Baptist Church in Worcester and, according to friends she was quite talented.

In 1951, one of her woodcut prints was shown at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC and it was included in a tour to Norway.

The family would like to give special thanks to the many people at Oakdale Rehab and Homestead Hall in Worcester, her good friend Gwen Callahan, as well as her attorney Christopher Mehne for their care and support.

To quote Carolyn, "Although I never had a chance to marry or have children to inherit some of my talents, I've had the privilege to teach thousands of children."

A graveside service and burial will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in Elm Grove Cemetery 197 Greenmanville Ave. Mystic, Ct 06355. To leave a condolence message online, please click guestbook link.
