Obituary

Worcester, Massachusetts - Carmen Maria Vargas, 84, passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in UMASS Memorial Healthcare - University Campus surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband, Amalio Laporte and a son, Raul. She is survived by her loving family - sons and daughters, Nereida, Andres, America "Mery", Carmen Iris, Edith "Ely", Maria M "Milly", Geraldo "Gerry", Ramonita "Cuky", Jose "Cheo"; daughters-in-law Marta, Pamela, and Cheryl; 27 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 7 great, great-grandchildren.

Carmen was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico before moving to Worcester. She was a faithful member of the La Roca de Salvacion Church and later the Hermosa Church. Carmen was a devoted mother - her passion was her family and helping others.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 4-5:30 p.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 5:30 in the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
