Obituary

Rev. Carmelo Gonzalez Rivera, 86, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by his loving family. He leaves two sons David Gonzalez and Joel Gonzalez a daughter Sara Rosado; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; several brothers and sisters; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Carmen Garay and older son Carmelo Gonzalez Jr.
Carmelo was born in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, son of the late Juan Gonzalez and Isabel Rivera. He graduated from High school and obtained a Master's in Biblical and Systematic Theology from Central University of Bayamon (UCB). He founded and worked as a minister for the Iglesia Bethsaida Inc. in Canovanas, Puerto Rico for over 50 years. He dedicated his entire life to the church and community.
Funeral services will be held on Monday August 12, 2019 beginning at 9:00 a.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605. Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster St, Worcester, MA 01603.
