Worcester: Carlos E. Hernandez Maldonado, 70, passed away on April 7, 2026 in Vantage at Worcester Nursing Center following an illness. He leaves his wife (Madelaine C) mother to his daughter (Alexandra H.), mother of his eldest daughters (Carmen R.), daughters (Denisha H., Lakisha R.), 4 grandchildren (Aiden P., Diana, Eduardito, and Gaddiel ), 2 sisters, a brother, extended family members and friends. 

Carlos was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, son of the late Enrique Hernandez Velez and Maria Conception Lopez. He graduated from Dr. Pila High School and furthered his education at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, focusing on accounting. He dedicated part of his life to serving his community as a member of the police force in Ponce for a few years. To then later on, work as a sheet metal worker. 

He was a dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox, rarely missing a game and sharing his love of baseball with those around him, and he also enjoyed playing softball for over 30 years, a pastime that brought him great joy.

He had a deep passion for cooking, often expressing his care for others through the meals he prepared and shared, with his specialties including pastelón de plátano maduro and traditional Puerto Rican cuisine. 

He found joy in life’s little moments of chance and possibility. Someone who never stopped believing in a lucky break, hope, and anticipation of what could be.

He was strong willed, passionate, loving jokester who devoted himself to others. He expressed his love through acts of giving and generosity. His love was one deeply felt by his family and one that will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
