Obituary

Holden—Betty J. A. (Wandland) Kauppila, 80, died Tuesday, November 15, 2005, at Sterling Healthcare Center. Her husband of 48 years, Walter U. Kauppila, died in 1998. She was born in Holden, daughter of Klaes and Alice (Anderson) Wandland and graduated from Holden High School where she played basketball and field hockey. She was employed by Paul Revere (formerly Mass. Protective Agency) for 47 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Finnish American Club, loved to cruise and travel, and was a bowler with the Victory League. She is survived by a brother, Roy Wandland and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 18., at 11:00 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. A calling hour will be held an hour before the service. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, 516 Carew St, Springfield MA 01104.
