Barbara (Johnson) Anderson, 81,of Shrewsbury, died Saturday, August 9.

Her husband of 45 years, Lloyd Anderson,died in 1990. She leaves 3 sons, Richard L.Anderson of Denver, CO; Ronald E. Andersonof Rutland, MA; and Robert A. Anderson ofWilbraham, MA; a daughter, Joan L. Jansenof Norcross, GA; and 5 grandchildren.

She was born in Buffalo, NY, daughter of ArthurW. and Edna (Corney) Johnson. She lived inWorcester most of her life and graduatedfrom Classical High School in 1939. Sheattended Bates College and graduated fromMassachusetts General Hospital School ofNursing. Mrs. Anderson was an active memberof First Baptist Church in Worcester whereshe had taught Sunday school and served onmany of their boards and committees. Shewas a former president of Fairlawn HospitalAuxiliary, Board member of Worcester CountyMusic Association, member of PEO SisterhoodChapter R, Worcester Red Cross and BloodMobile, Worcester Art Museum, WorcesterHorticultural Society Tower Hill,Ecotarium, Worcester Historical Society,and Mechanics Hall. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m.,Thursday, August 14, in First BaptistChurch, 111 Park Avenue, Worcester. Burialwill be private in All Faiths Cemetery.Calling hours are 5-8 p.m., Wednesday,August 13, in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300Lincoln St. Worcester(NordgrenMemorialChapel.com).
