Anthony E. Simakauskas, 90, died Wednesday, June 8, 2005 in Knollwood Nursing Home. His wife Ellen (Vasiliauskas) died in 1992. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara E. Begas of San Jose, CA; a son, John S. Simakauskas of Framingham; a sister, Lillian Sviklas of Worcester; a brother, Edward Simakauskas of Spencer; 2 granddaughters and a grandson, Emily Begas, Adam Begas, and Sarah Begas—all of San Jose, CA; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Nellie (Jenewin), Albina (Haddad), and Vit.

Born in Worcester, he was a son of Stephen and Nellie (Chaplis) Simakauskas. He was a decorated World War II veteran of the US Army and a recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from US Steel in 1975 after more than 41 years of service. He was a member of the Lithuanian Naturalization Club, VFW South Works Post #3657, and AARP.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 14. A calling hour will be held at 10 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, 25 Fales St. Please omit flowers.
