Obituary

Alice S. (Shrestinian) Melkonian, 72, died Sunday, August 14, 2005. Her husband John H. Melkonian predeceased her. She leaves 2 sons, Charles A. Melkonian and Alek A. Melkonian, both of Worcester and 2 daughters, Mara and her husband Gary Dix of Holden and Sharistan A. and her husband Ivan Ardhaldjian of Waltham, 5 grandchildren, Zachary Harvard, Shane Melkonian, and Ardavasd Ardhaldjian, Karina Levesque and Nairi Melkonian, a brother, Ara Shrestinian of N. Andover, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Roxy Davidian.

Alice was born in Haverhill, daughter of Aram and Dorothy (Kachadoorian) Shrestinian and was a graduate of Haverhill High School and UMass Lowell. She was an encoder for the former Guarantee Bank & Trust Co. She was also an accomplished organist and musician and was also a member and organist at Holy Trinity Armenian Church and its Ladies Guild and the Armenian Relief Society.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln St. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Armenian Church, Burial will be in Lynwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Armenian Church, 635 Grove St. Worcester MA or the Armenian Relief Society, 109 Barry Rd., Worcester MA 01609.
