Kirkland, WA—Alice A. (Adams) Peterson, 85, of Kirkland, Washington, formerly of Shrewsbury, died Wednesday, May 14, at her home.

Her husband, Roy G. Peterson, died in 1999. She was the daughter of John J. Adams and Lillian (Herrmann) Adams. Born and raised in Shrewsbury, she lived there until moving to the State of Washington in 2001.

She graduated from North High School in Worcester and Stoneleigh Junior College in New Hampshire.

She was employed by State Mutual Life Insurance Company for several years before leaving to raise a family. At State Mutual, she was secretary to H. Ladd Plumley before he became Chairman, and she had the first electric typewriter in the state. Later she was an owner and director of John J. Adams Die Corporation of Worcester.

Mrs. Peterson loved to watch professional sports on television, especially Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics games, along with professional golf tournaments. She was a member of Lake View Congregational Church in Worcester.

She leaves two sons, Glenn Peterson of Kirkland, Washington and Richard Peterson of San Rafael, California; one great-grandchild; two brothers; and several nieces and nephews. A grandchild predeceased her.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 21, from 4-7 at Nordgren Memorial Chapel (www.NordgrenMemorialChapel.com), 300 Lincoln Street. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lake View Congregational Church, 115 Coburn Avenue, Worcester, MA 01604 or to the American Cancer Society, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
